  4.   The marriage of Thomas Hodgman to Elizabeth Blood in 1740 (the son, since the father d. 1739) is at odds with both the birth and death records cited here. Thus, when trying to explain the discrepancy between the name Thomas in the birth record, and the name Joseph in the baptism record, it seems probable that the birth and death records used the wrong name, probably because the town clerk confused the name of the child with the name of the father.
