Marriage

Joseph married Victorie Broussard, daughter of Claude Broussard and Louise Hebert, on 27 March 1810 in St. Martinville. Victorie was born 15 October 1787, and died before 1870 in Calcasieu Parish, Louisiana.

Farques in Calcasieu Parish

This family came to the Imperial Calcasieu Parish sometime in the 1830s. In the Calcasieu Parish meeting minutes of 8 December 1840, a vote was taken for the parish seat location. One of the places on which they voted was for "Joseph Fork's place on the east side of the Calcasieu River." ^S2

The family is in the 1840, 1850 and 1860 census records for Calcasieu Parish. Calcasieu Parish tax rolls for 1865 and 1866 show a listing for the "Estate of Joseph Farque." ^S2

Most of the families that bear the "Farque" surname in Southwest Louisiana and southeast Texas descend from Joseph and Victorie. ^S2
