Joseph Burnap, s/o Joseph Burnap and Sarah Nichols, b. 13 Jan 1723/4, possibly married twice. Probably the marriage in Reading of Joseph Burnap to Lydia Melendy on 12 Jan 1775 is him since he refers to his "now wife" Lydia in 1785, plus his children's mother is named Lydia before this marriage, suggesting he married two different Lydia's. Since Lydia Melendy is mentioned as "mother of brother Melendy", it would appear the second Lydia was a widow. Hence the maiden name of neither is known. Will of Joseph Burnap of Reading, dated 20 Mar 1806, mentions wife Lydia; sons John, Joseph, Jacob, Edward living in Fitchburg, James; daughters Lydia Cutler and Sarah Miles. Proven Woburn 25 Apr 1809.
