[1708] xr. [December] 31. ... Mr Bridgham was absent, being taken sick that day. [1708/9] Midweek, Jan'y 5. ... Capt. Chandler tells me in the entry that elder Bridgham was dead; I come in and tell it the company. Jany'y 8. My worthy friend Mr. Bridgham is buried: Bearers Mr. Cook, Col. Hutchinson; Elder Cop, Deacon Jn'o Marion; Deacon Isaiah Tay, Deacon Thomas Hubbard. Is buried in the Old burying place. ... He was a Righteous, Mercifull, publick-Spirited man, very usefull in the Town: was born the 17th Jan'y 1651/2. The Lord sanctify this awful sudden Stroak; and help us duly to lay it to heart.

Joseph Bridgham, son of Henry Bridgham and Elizabeth Harding, b. 17 Jan 1652, d. 5 Jan 1708, and was buried in the King's Chapel burying ground in Tremont street, Boston. In 1674 he became a member of the Ancient and Honorable Artillery Company, and Elder of First Church in Boston. Married (1) Sarah ---, m. (2)Susanna Cook [sic, Cocke], m. (3) Mercy Wensley.
