- ↑ Source:Hudson, Charles. History of the Town of Marlborough, Middlesex County, Massachusetts, p. 311, says that Joseph Baker who m. Esther Harwood is the son of Joseph Baker of Marlborough and his wife Elizabeth ---. But since the marriage to Esther occurs in 1724, and indicated Joseph was born in 1708, that is improbable as he would only be 16. Additionally, the will of Joseph Baker of Marlborough in 1755 [Middlesex probate 756] names his wife Elizabeth, son Joseph Baker of Sturbridge, in addition to daughters. The will of Joseph Baker of Sturbridge, 1784 [Worcester probate 2693] names his wife as Anna and children Keziah Hamant, Comfort Ellis, Jemima Hamant, Anna, Joseph and Elizabeth Baker. So it seems to be an unrelated Joseph Baker who married Esther Harwood.
- ↑ Based on the assumption that his wife Esther Baker was the person by that name who married Samuel Morse in Nov 1732, Joseph is presumed to have died before that date. The last recorded child was born in 1730.
