Jose A. Rangel, 90, Topeka, died May 14, 1988, at a Topeka hospital.
He was a carman's helper for Santa Fe Railway before he retired in 1963.
He was born Sept. 6, 1897, at Santa Barbara in Guanajuato, Mexico, the son of Felipe and Nicolasa Gonzalez Rangel. He moved to Topeka from Mexico in 1922.
He was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Church.
His wife, Mrs. Tranquilina Rangel, survives.
Other survivors include a stepson, Marcelino Olivarez, Albuquerque, N. M; six stepdaughters: Jennie Mendez and Mary O. Ramirez, both of Topeka; Angelina Olivarez, Dan Diego; Guadalupe Carrasco and Cresencia Lira, both of Phoenix, Ariz., and Maria Jesus Martinez, Chicago; a brother, Andres Rangel, Austin, Texas; and many step-grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
A stepson, Alfredo Olivarez, preceded him in death.
