BIOGRAPHY: Had 6 children. According to p. 6 of the book "Hist. of Orion, IL - 1953", Johnathan [note spelling - 1st 'h' probably a typo] with his wife and son Edwin Horace arrived in Western Twp. in 1843, purchasing 13 acres from his brother Dr. Alfred Trego, then later acquired 40 acres in the NW1/4 NW1/4, sec 27 of Western Twp. There is a record in [Illinois Public Domain Land Tract Sales] for 25 Sep 1843 of the purchase of 40 acres in Sec 27 [NENW] of Western Twp. Also mentioned in the Orion history is that he was a portrait painter. He is also mentioned as a fine artist in the Trego family history source. However, it is his son, William B.T. Trego of artistic fame. The Trego's sold their land on 9 Nov 1846 and moved to Yardleyville, PA in 1847; however can only find a Yardley, Bucks Co., PA on current maps - may have been re-named, verification req'd. He was an original member of the LaGrange Lyceum, organized on 17 Dec 1846 in Western Twp., Henry Co., Il. Jonathan is the second Great Grand Uncle [2GGU] of Jeremy H. Jordan. Info per Susanne Burt Danubio of 7-2001 indicates spelling of first name as Jonathan per June Shaull Lutz book and she also supplied middle name of Kirkbride, but verification needed. Martha Carolyn (Hills) Jordan has his portrait of Elizabeth (Trego) Blackfan [his sister] as of 2006. Listed as Jonathan K. Trego in 1850 Fed. Census for Buckington Twp., Bucks Co., PA, enumerated on 29 Jul 1850, age 33, b. PA, Portrait Painter/ w/wife Emily R. Trego + son Edwin R. {middle initial of Edwin is clearly shown as R, not H]. Listed as Jonathan Trego in 1860 Fed Census for Lower Makefield Twp., Bucks Co., PA, enumerated on 11 Jun 1860, age 42, Artist, b. PA, w/wife & 2 children. Listed as Jonathan Trego in 1880 Fed Census for Detroit, Wayne Co., MI, Dist. 284, enumerated on 4 Jun 1880, age 61, boarder, Artist, b. PA w/Delia Trego, boarder, artist, b. NY, parents b. CT. Listed as Jonathan Trego in 1900 Fed Census for North Wales Borough, Montgomery Co., PA, Dist. 257, enumerated on 7 Jun 1900, age 83, head of house, Artist, b. Mar 1817, PA, married 48 years, w/wife Delia & 1 son William. This raises an issue regarding a second possible marriage as the 48 year marriage term gives a marriage date of circa 1852, with conflict on issue in this record. The census record for his listed wife, lists name as Delia Trego, age 72, born Nov 1827, NY w/both parents b. CT, married 48 years, 7 children born, 3 still living.
