History of Littleton NH: "JONATHAN SMITH, son of Jonathan20, b. in Middleboro', Mass., Feb. 14, 1716. m. Sept. 6, 1737, Experience, dau. of Ichabod Cushman. ... Both were dismissed form the church in Middleboro', Mass., to the church in Bolton, Conn., in 1753. From Bolton they moved to Surry, N. H., where they were among the first settlers, he being one of the proprietors of the town. ... H settled in that part of Gilsum afterward set off into Surry, about 1764, and on the farm recently owned by Frank Carpenter."
