- ↑ Date of Death.
There is some dispute on the date of death for Jonas. While all accounts have Jonas in Indiana. The account of the descendants of his son Zebina have him as passing on in 1815. The account of the descendants of his son Charles have him working at his shoemaker's bench on or the day after Jonas's ninety-third birthday. That account also has him living with son Charles in Fairview Township, Fayette County, Indiana until he died on December 23, 1845. Unfortunately, this account also has this Jonas remarrying to Sarah Curtis. Sarah Curtis is actually the wife of Jonas Williams, Jr, another son of this Jonas. - ↑ The birth of Jonas is also a source of conjecture for the descendants of Jonas. One account has him being born on January 15, 1747. While another claims he is born December 26, 1751. The Indiana records show 1748, while a bio for his son Zebina in Ohio claims 1751. As his wife Eleanor was born in 1748, I lean to the 1747 date.
- ↑ A burial for a Jonas Williams at Campbell Cemetery, Fayette Co, Indiana (a cemetery where son Charles and many in his family are buried). The online memorial at Findagrave.com shows him buried there with a death date of December 7, 1815. There is no other information shown to tell me if this is our Jonas, but the inclusion of son Charles and family at this cemetery is noted. I wonder if the 1815 date is a misreading of 1845 (see discussion, Note 1).
