Children of Jonas Rice and Mary Stone: Jonas, b. Apr 1707, d. Barre "in March or April, 1793", m. (1) [first child b. 1729] Jane Hall, m. (2) 6 Jan 1772 Lydia Conant of Warwick. Deacon of the church at Barre.
[Note: neither the birth nor death is found in VRs. Despite Ward's assertion that children are listed in Sudbury records, the published records only show "RICE, Jams, s. Jams and Sarah, Apr. [30?], 1707", strongly suggesting Ward may have misread the record. The vague death date given by Ward probably comes from a probate, and although he gives an age at death, it was probably calculated from his own assumed birth date. Given the birth of his first wife in 1700, it seems likely Jonas was born earlier than 1707. He is named in his father's will, so the identity of his father seems solid, at least. But his father was born 1672-3 which means it is not inconceivable that he even had an earlier marriage before his 1702 marriage to Mary Stone, which may have produced Jonas.]
