    "2. Dea. Jonas Humphrey, Jr. (Jonas1), was born probably at Wendover, near 1620; died at Weymouth, 9 or 11 Feb. 1698-99. aged 79 years. He married near 1648, Martha _____, the mother of his children. He removed from Dorchester to Weymouth near 1653 and had seven acres in the First Division and twenty acres in the Second Division granted to him, 14 Dec. 1663. He was a deacon of the First Church and resided on Neck Street in 'Old Spain.'

    Jonas Humphrey, aged 68 years or thereabouts, deposed that he lived for some time in Wendover, county of Bucks, and was well acquainted with Enoch Hunt of Titenden, parish of Lee, about two miles distant from Wendover, blacksmith, and with Ephraim Hunt, blacksmith, reputed eldest son of said Enoch Hunt, and that they afterwards removed into New England and for some time dwelt at Weymouth, and that said Enoch Hunt, the father, soon returned to England, but his son Ephraim Hunt remained at Weymouth, there married, had several sons, and continued his dwelling there to the time of his death, about sixteen months since, etc., 2 July, 1688.     "Jonas (Humphrey), Weymouth, s. of the preced. b. in Eng. a. 1620, freem. 1653, by w. Martha had Jonas, b. 24 Jan. or Feb. 1656; John, 31 Aug. 1658; Sarah, 16 May 1661; and James, 16 Sept. 1665; beside sev. bef. rec. of b. begin in that town, as eldest s. Samuel, Nathaniel, and perhaps more. In 1688 he calls hims. 68 yrs. old. His will of 6 Aug. 1692, in Vol. XIV. 24, names only these three s. but adds gr.ch. Jonas, James, and Mary, wh. prob. were by his w. Mary ch. of that s. Jonas, wh. had serv. in Johnson's comp. in the hard campaign, Dec. 1675, and d. 30 Oct. 1689 preced. So we see the confus. of Geneal. Reg. V. 401, in tak. gr.s. for s. of the emigr."
