"Dr. John3 Wilson, (Rev. John2, Rev. John1), born Jun. 18, 1660 at Medfield, died 1728 at Braintree (Wilson Tomb - Hancock Cem. Quincy). He was admitted to Harvard College but soon left and received instruction from his father in divinity, medicine and law, became school master in Medfield and assisted his father in the ministry. In 1682 he went to New Haven, Conn. and preached for a year but returned to Medfield in 1684 and resumed teaching. After his father's death in 1691 he failed of election as his successor in the ministry there and came to Braintree in 1692 to the part of his grandfather's farm which was willed to him by his father and settled here permanently, as a farmer, physician, and lawyer. He became prominent in town affairs and was elected Representative in 1698. In 1696 he became captain of a militia company."
