Line of John T. Warren
John T. Warren was born in Newton County Georgia, Mar. 30th 1826. He was married three times. First to Mary Jane RUSSELL about 1850. They moved to Gordon Co. about that date purchased a farm one mile North East of the present town of Sugar Valley. He engaged in the mercantile business for awhile. His store being on the east side of the public road from the Sugar Valley Baptist church. At the outbreak of the Civil War five children had been born into their home. He answered the call of the South and enlisted in the Fourth Ga. Calvary, Joe Wheelers division. At one time during the war he was Captured and spent fourteen months in Rock Island Prison.
During the war his wife died leaving five small children. They were taken care of by their grandmother RUSSELL until after the war.

In 1865 he married Mrs. Sarah Ann TURNER a widow lady with one child. Four children were born of this union. Coming home form the war he found every thing in a delapidated condition but being thrifty he soon got on his feet again. He erectred a cotton gin at Sugar Valley and had the misfortune of getting his right hand cut off. Being incapacitated for manual labor he offered himself as a candidate for the office of tax collector and was elected serving one term which lasted from Jan 3rd, 1883 to Jan. 1885.

His second wife died sometime during the 1890's. After a few years he married the third time being about 80 years of age to a widow lady name Night. He lived to be 89 years of age dying Apr. 24th 1915. His body was laid to rest in the RUSSELL cemetery.
