    Born April 11, 1919, in Pittsburgh, PA, he was the son of the late George P. and Clara C. (Gray) Walrond. He was a paint chemist for St. Joe Minerals from 1956-1979, prior to that he was owner of Big Beaver Paint Company. He was a 1957 graduate of Geneva College where he was Valedictorian of his class and was a member and past treasurer of the Chippewa United Methodist Church. He was a lieutenant and served as a navigator in the Army Air Corp during World War II.

    J. Ellis Walrond, 94, of Chippewa Township, died Monday, August 5, 2013, in Butler VNA Inpatient Hospice, Butler, PA.

    Born April 11, 1919, in Pittsburgh, PA, he was the son of the late George P. and Clara C. (Gray) Walrond. He was a paint chemist for St. Joe Minerals from 1956-1979, prior to that he was owner of Big Beaver Paint Company.     He is survived by his two sons and daughters-in-law, Dr. John P. Walrond and Nina Burkardt, Loveland, CO and Dr. Thomas G. Walrond and Dr. Ricarda Kelly-Walrond, Renfrew, PA; four grandchildren, Christina Walrond, Kenneth Walrond, Dylan Walrond and Katherine Walrond and a sister and brother-in-law, Geneva ‘Neve’ and Del Crumrine, Avon Park, FL.

    In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Martha Jean (Heinman) Walrond; his second wife, Shirley (Hutchinson) Walrond and a brother, George Walrond.

    Private interment will be in Sylvania Hills Memorial Park, Daugherty Twp.
