Notes

From:Ancestry:

(From the L.I. FARMER, Tues, 2-15-1859) - DIED. At Roslyn, on Saturday last, Rachel, wife of John Tatterson.
(From the L.I. TIMES, Thurs, 3-10-1859 and also from the HEMPSTEAD INQUIRER, Sat., 3-19-1859) - DIED. TATTERSON. - Suddenly, at Cedar Swamp, on the 28th ult., Mr. John Tatterson, aged about 60 years.
(Originally published in the L.I. DEMOCRAT and reprinted in the HEMPSTEAD INQUIRER, Sat., 3-12-1859) SAD MISTAKE. On Monday, 28th ult., Mr. John Tatterson, of Roslyn, swallowed a quantity of laudanum, which he mistook for porter. The two bottles stood beside each other, and the taste was so similar that he did not discover his mistake in season to get relief. Mr. Tatterson had buried his wife but a short time previously.
The card in the file for the last item (Sad Mistake) has a pencil notation by the society that this was a possible suicide. The Surrogate of Queens County issued letters of administration for the estate of John Tatterson on March 14, 1859 - reference Queens County Administrations, Liber I (eye), page 202.
