Facts and Events
John Ivan Stuve , Humbird, Wisconsin Story by Delano Kahlstorf, added to Kahlstorf Family Tree on 27 Jan 2009: This story is based on the memories of my mother, Helene Alice Short Kahlstorf and Rosemary Martin Williams: John Ivan Stuve was the youngest of the children of Hans and Emma (Jenkins) Stuve. Uncle John was a very bright man. He was valedictorian in high school. Following high school he ran the farm, and raised beautiful fruits and vegetables. As the result of a broken engagement he became despondent, very depressed and had a nervous breakdown. After a period of time at home, he was in a mental hospital for the remainder of his life. His mother Emma took great pains to be as supportive and helpful to John as possible. Phyllis Stuve Green made regular hospital visits to him after she retired. Helene remembers: "His hospitalization was not the result of an accident from a train as I thought. Apparently that was not the case! The mystery to me is that I was positive my mother told me that years ago when I was a curious child." References
