Facts and Events
BIOGRAPHY: John Spooner was the eldest son of John Spooner of Dartmouth. He inherited from his grandfather, William Spooner, "one fourth part of a share of all ye undivided lands in ye Township of Dartmouth," together with two acres "of good meadow lying on ye west side of Sconticutt neck at ye entering in of ye neck." BIOGRAPHY: He became quate independent, leaving, at the time of his death, real estate valued at 1,700 pounds, and chattels valued at 213:08:6 pound. His will was executed March 4, 1728, and probated April 12, 1728. BIOGRAPHY: Besides being a man of wealth, John Spooner was a man of some influence. A glance at the records of the town of Dartmouth will reveal the estimation in which he was held by his townsmen. He served almost constantly for many years in some official position. It is possible that it was John. Jr., and not his father, who was chosen Representative to the General Court in May, 1710. References
