Southern Democrat on the HISTORY OF MOUNTAIN GROVECOMMUNITY:Jack South came to this county from Georgia and enteredland where his grandson, Demp South, now lives. A MrMurphree lived somewhere near the Will Loyd farm. Throughmarriage the Murphrees and South became related. John Murphree gave a 40 acre lot to Demp South'sgrandmother, Martha South, except one acre which was given to the public for a cemetery. This is the present South Cemetery. Ruben South inherited Martha South's land at her death and it is now the home of Demp South. A child of Jack South was the first to be buried in South Cemetery.
