John L "Jack" Schumaker, 73, of West Yeasting St, Gibsonburg, died Frid ay morning at Toledo Hospital. Jack was born in Gibsonburg to Clarence "Pete" and Evelynne (Krauter) Schu maker. On Nov. 10, 1951, he married Rosalyn M Toeppe in St. Joseph Cathol ic Church in Fremont. She died Oct. 4, 2002. He graduated from Gibsonburg High School in 1947, served in the U.S Navy d uring the Korean War, and was the plant manager and director of purchasi ng for Atlas Industries, retiring in 1995. He was a member of the Welker-S mith Post 17 of the American Legion, the Fremont Moose and was a former co uncilman for the Village of Woodville. He enjoyed golfing and computers. Surviving are daughters Cathy (Dennis) Layman of Pemberville, Susan (Ti m) Damschroder of Lindsey; sons Andy (Charlotte) Schumaker, John Schumak er II, both of Gibsonburg, Greg "Butch" (Lynn) Schumaker of Northwood; sis ter Virginia Driftmyer of Gibsonburg; brother Harold Schumaker of Westfie ld Center; 10 grandchildren and one step-grandchild. He was preceded in de ath by son Jeffrey in addition to his wife. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday and 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m, Monday at t he Nopper-Veh Funeral Home, Gibsonburg. Funeral Mass: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, St. Michael's Catholic Church, Gibsonbur g. Burial: West Union Cemetery. Memorials: To the church or to charity of donor's choice.
