...He was born in 1629 to Mathew and Elizabeth (Moorefield) Randall of Bath, Somersetshire, England, where his grandfather had been its mayor in 1627... There he met Elizabeth Morton, who was born in 1631 in St. James Parish, Clerkenwell (London), England, and they married at St. Bride's Parish on Fleet Street in 1665.
John and Elizabeth opted to leave Clerkenwell with their infant son in 1666 and followed Elizabeth's brother, Sir William Morton, to America. The Randalls were briefly in Newport, Rhode Island, but by 1667 they were settled in Westerly, Rhode Island, where John became a farmer, had four more children, including our ancestor Mathew in 1671, and remained for most of their lives.
...He died in 1684 when he was 55 years old and was buried in the Seventh Day Baptist Church Cemetery in Ashaway, Rhode Island.
