John Pearman was baptised on 7th July 1754 at Ardeley in Hertfordshire, son of John and Sarah Pearman.

On 9th May 1781, aged 26, John married Sarah Walby. She was from the nearby parish of Aston, which is where they married. They then returned to Ardeley, having four children baptised there between 1783 and 1790.

Sarah died in 1791, when she was probably still in her twenties. John survived her by about 38 years. He left a will, in which he was described as victualler of the Dog and Partridge public house in the hamlet of Cromer in Ardeley parish. He was buried at Ardeley on 3rd September 1829, aged 75.
