DURHAM SPRING ASSIZES, 1832. WEDNESDAY, Feb. 29. ANN FLETCHER (56), charged with having, at the parish of Sunderland, feloniously stolen a pair of shoes, the property of John Neil. MR MAUDE stated the case to the Jury, and called John Neil, a shoemaker in Sunderland, who stated, that he remembered the prisoner coming to his shop to order a pair of shoes to be made for her: she called the day after, but the shoes were not done. After she had left the shop, he missed a pair of shoes. He then followed, overtook, and charged prisoner with having stolen them. He searched her clothes and found them in her pocket. James Hall, a constable, produced the shoes taken by him from prisoner, which were identified by Neil.-Guilty. 12 calendar months' hard labour.
