Dr. McFarland died Monday, June 15 at the home of his brother, J.B. McFarland, after a lingering illness. Interment took place at Forest Hill cemetery at 4 o’clock Tuesday.

Dr. J.R. McFarland Dead.
On June 15 Dr. J.R. McFarland died at the home of his brother, J.B. McFarland, in North Choctaw township. Deceased was born at Champagne, Ohio, in 1834, and was married in 1857 to Miss N.M. Rutlege and was the father of six children. He graduated in 1873 from the Rush Medical college, Chicago. He practiced medicine in Illinois, Missouri, and Kansas, and came to Oklahoma ten years ago, locating in Lincoln county. His mother, nearly 90 years of age, and his four sons survive him. The funeral was conducted by Evangelist Cansler, of the Christian church, of which the deceased was a member. Dr. McFarland was a good citizen and was highly respected by all who knew him.
