New England Ancestry of Dana Converse Backus, p. 104, makes the argument this record belongs to John based on Joseph being the elder of the two, and the grandfather's will (undated, but he died 1677, so written approximately 1675 or 1676) said John was 15 at that time. However, this sources interprets the date as March 1660/61, when the 1st month of 1660 would follow the last month of 1659, so this should be March 1659/60.]
