"John (Luddington), b. 1640; supposed to have been one of the brothers referred to in the settlement of his brother Henry's estate as living in 1676. It is thought that all the early references to John Luddington in Dodd's 'East-Haven Register' relate to his nephew John,3 the son of Thomas.2 The only record of John2 in New Haven, aside from that of his brother Henry's estate, is Dec. 12, 1664, when John and Thomas Luddington testified in Town Court and Thomas called John 'his brother.' (Proprietors' Records, vol. 3, p. 4.) Mr. Patrick thinks John removed to Vermont."

Way too early for anyone to be removing to Vermont.
