There were at least TWO John Wesley Lowers in history. The other was born in 1863 in Wabash, Indiana, the son of Daniel Lower. Data as to which Daniel Lower this was, has not been found as of 2013.

At the time of John Wesley Lower's birth, his birthplace was Canal Dover. Now the city is just known as Dover, Ohio.
