My 3rd grgrandfather was John Crow LONG (bn abt 1826, d abt 1861 in Richmond, son of Arthur LONG & Jane "Jenny" WILLIAMS, and grandson of Capt. William LONG. I had been in contact with Myra Evans Dalton last Feb & got a gedcom on the Long family information she had at that time. Her records indicate brothers George, Arthur, & Thomas LONG moved to Jacksdon Co., AL, & John moved to Huntsville, AR. However, John had to have gone to Jackson Co, with his brothers -- at least for a short time. He's in the 1830 Jackson Co. census with them. [John Long - Males: 1(0-5), 1(20-30). Females: 1(0-5) 1(20-30). There is also a record of John owning land there per "Old Land Records of Jackson Co., AL" by Margaret Matthews Cowart. Will be glad to share what I have if you're interested. They have been a hard family to track. Arthur had 5 sons other that my John Crow LONG & all but one supposedly died in the Civil War.
