Former Organist Here is Dead John David Lloyd expires at his home in Fitchburg, Massachusetts
Decedent one time resident of this city and son-in-law of Mr. and Mrs. Charles E. Hay - Funeral here
LLOYD---Died, Saturday night, March 20, 1909, at his home in Fitchburg, Mass., John David Lloyd, aged 41 years. The remains probably will arrive in Springfield next Saturday or Sunday, and the interment will be made in Oak Ridge cemetery.
John David Lloyd for a number of years was a resident of Springfield and was organist at St. Paul's Pro-Cathedral. He was prominent in musical circles and was the organizer of the Philharmonic chorus. Ten years ago he left Springfield and went east, where he engaged in musical work. For some time he was organist in an Episcopal church in Fitchburg.
The news of his death was a surprise, as his friends in this city were not aware that he had been ill. The telegram announcing his demise gave no particulars as to his illness.
Mr. and Mrs. Charles E. Hay, who have been in Washington, were informed of the death of Mr. Lloyd, and went to Fitchburg. A message received from Mrs. Hay yesterday afternoon gave the information that the funeral services will be held in Springfield, and that the remains probably will arrive Saturday or Sunday.
John David Lloyd married Miss Annie R. Hay, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles E. Hay of this city. Mrs. Lloyd died some time ago. The decedent was a native of Wales. He is survived by his parents, who reside in Wales; one brother and two sisters; also four children, who have been making their home with their grandparents since the death of their mother.
