"John¹ Leighton of Ipswich was brother of Richard … His will, dated 14 Mar., 1693-4, proved 26 Mar., 1694, mentions wife, Pernell; cousin John Leighton of Rowley £5, and to be executor; 'Thomas Snell formerly my servant which I brought up from a child,' £5 Mary Newmarsh, wife of Thomas Newmarsh; children of my brother Richard Leighton, deceased, voz., John, Ezekiel, Mary and Sarah (Essex Probate). Administration, 'cum testamento annexo,' granted 26 Feb., 1718, to nephew Ezekiel Leighton, and John Hartshorn in the right of his wife Mary, a niece of said deceased (Essex Probate, 312:496). John Laiton and Parnall Kertland were married in Lynn, 31 Oct., 1687."
