Pvt. John T. Lee - Age 18 upon enlistment with Co. D, 10th TexasInfantry, at Hempstead, Waller County, Texas, on October 31,1861; he had been recruited at Fairfield of the same county, onOctober 26th.

Pvt. Lee was granted a 30 Day Sick Furlough to Freestone County,on February 12, 1862. He was discharged on April 10, 1862, “forreason of ulcerous leg of long standing.” According to hisdischarge certificate, Pvt. Lee was a native of Shelby County,Illinois; prior to enlistment, he was a farmer who stood 4’11”tall with blue eyes, dark hair and a dark complexion.
