At this location John Lambert continued to reside the rest of his life. And here his family grew to maturity and some of them married. Although by this time he was growing old in years, he still possessed the desire to prosper in business. So he secured warrants for other lands. However, in 1786 he was taxed with only thirty three acres which amount was continued on the record book until Pendleton County was formed (in 1788). John Lambert died on Dry Run, Pendleton County in 1804. He is the ancestor of the famly still living in that region. Of course many of his offspring have migrated to other sections of the country and there established their name and record. His progeny is so numerous that it is not possible here to relate even a brief account of all of these persons. If any girls were born into the family no record has been kept of their names. Of his sons, two of them, John (jr.) and George, remained in their native country, married and reared their families there. The others migrated to Kentucky about 1793 where many of their decendents still reside. So those men who were obedient to the call of the West never returned to their native region in Virginia.
