This is NOT the John Kerr that married Elizabeth Williams in 1805 in Virginia. That was a DIFFERENT John Kerr (1782-1842).

   John KERR Sr. was my ggggrandfather. He was married to Martha (?). They lived in Sevier Co, but originally emigrated from No. Carolina, Caswell C. They settled in Sevier County circa 1796. He died 1839 and left a will naming his children as follows: John KERR Jr., Daniel KERR, Polly KERR, Fatha KERR, and his wife Martha. I am trying to identify John KERR Sr.'s parents. I was told his father's name was Alexander, but now I am not sure if Alexander KERR from Caswell Co. is indeed his father. If anyone is researching this same family I will be happy to share info.    Searching for additional information on John KERR Sr (1760-1836)Probably born in NC, died in Sevier Co. His parents may have been Alexander KERR and Polly WILEY of Caswell Co., NC. John KERR Sr married Martha about 1792 and they had Daniel 1794-1875, John Jr 1798- , Fatha 1797-aft 1850, and Polly b. abt 1800. Daniel KERR married Sarah PETTY 1820-?, possibly dau. of James PETTY. Their children were, Sarah E. 1850-1894, m. William M. Roberts, Henry C. b. abt 1844 m. Elizabeth, Daniel W. b. 1845 m. Delila Finchum, Web P. b. abt 1846 and died in Andersonville Prison but had two daughters, Web's wife's name may have been Delila, Harriett b. 1848, Manerva 1853-1891, m. William SNEED and Nancy b. 1854 m. a GANN. I would like to know more about each of Daniel KERR and Sarah's children and their descendants. I have a copy of John KERR Sr's will and deed from Daniel and Sarah, dividing their land amongst their heirs before they died. Daniel leaves land to heirs, Amanda J. KELLEY and Elizabeth POOR but I do not know who they were.
