  3. There is a second birth recorded in Newbury vital recordsS1, for John, s. John sr. on 13 Jul 1677. This record is not noticed by either Joshua Coffin in Source:NEHGR, p. 15:231, or Source:Briggs, Lloyd Vernon. Genealogies of the Different Families Bearing the Name of Kent in the United States, p. 249. There is no death date for a John between these dates, and the similarity of the dates (both in July, similar shape raising possibility of mis-interpreting the original handwriting) suggests this second date may be an error, and it is presumed that is what these two sources thought. However, if further evidence arises, it could turn out that the son John, b. 1675, d. in infancy, and the surviving son was the one born in 1677.
  4. On p. 249, Source:Briggs, Lloyd Vernon. Genealogies of the Different Families Bearing the Name of Kent in the United States shows this John Kent marrying Sarah Little. On p. 254, it seems to suggest he married Rebecca Somerby. These two marriages are overlapping and thus these two hypotheses are mutually exclusive. There is a detailed discussion on Person:John Kent (59), which concludes page 254 is an error, and that this John Kent married Sarah Little. The death record cited above makes it clear that this John d. 1703, while the John Kent who m. Rebecca Somerby was still having children as late as 1710.
