DORSET - John G. Kelly, 76, of Florence, died Saturday at the Rutland Hospital following a short illness. A long-time resident of Dorset, he was for many years engaged in farming at Valley View Farm. Surviving are his wife, the former Mary Bednarck; two daughters, Mrs. Alexander F. Keefe and Mrs. Thomas A. Keenan, both of Rutland; three sons, John G. Kelly Jr. of Orwell, George V. Kelly of Springfield and Robert A. Kelly of Rutland; seven sisters, Mrs. Peter McLaughlin of Manchester, Ms. Thomas McLaughlin of Pittsford, Mrs. Teresa McCoy of Bennington, Miss Clara Kelly of Florence, Mrs. Anne Cross, Ms. Alice Stokes and Mrs. Bernard Gaffney, all of New York City; one brother, William T. Kelly of Arlington; 18 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was a member of the Bennington Council Knights of Columbus, Holy Name Society, Battenkill Cooperative Creamery, Dorset Fish and Game Club and a trustee of St. Jerome Cemetery Association in East Dorset. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 10 am at St.Jerome's Church in East Dorset. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call at the Clifford Funeral Home today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm.
