    John Jones Funeral Rites
    Stricken While Planting corn on the Farm of L. E. Stipp- Death Came From Stroke of Paralysis-Funeral Held at Murdock
    John Jones, son of John and Francis Griffin Jones, was born March 24, 1877, near Fairfield, Wayne County, Ill. He departed this life May 19, 1931, age 54 years, 1 month and 25 days. He was united in marriage to Anna A. Henry, on August 2, 1907. To this union were born three children. He was baptized in to the pentecostal faith about four years. He spend the greater part of his life near the place of his birth, having moved to Douglas County about eight years ago. He was a kind and loving father and husband, always putting the best interests of his family first.
    He served his country faithfully (costal faith about four years-error in printing). He and well during the Cuban War, having made her last voyage. He leaves to mourn his departure the wife, Anna A. Jones, one son, Alvis T. Jones, a daughter Mrs. Oral May Good, all of Newman, together with a large number of friends. An infant daughter preceded her father to the land of rest.
    Mr. Jones had been in failing health for several months. On Monday morning about 8:30 a.m. he was stricken while planting corn on the farm of L. E. Stipp. Mr. Stipp found him just as the attack was coming on. He was taken to his home and everything loving hands could do to save him was done. The immediate cuase of death was paralysis. At the time of his death he was residing four miles south of Newman.
    The funeral was 3 o'clock Wednesday afternoon, May 20. It was preached by Gilbert Ingram, of Camargo, at the Methodist Church in Murdock. Burial was in the Murdock cemetery. Music was rendered by Miss Florence Cooney, Miss Grace Cook and Mr. Fulton.
