Searching for information on John Jenkins (ca. 1768-1856) who married Rachel McElhaney (ca. 1790-1859) in Botetourt Co., VA in 1816. She was the daughter of Samuel McElhaney, and her first marriage was to William Henry, Jr. who died in the War of 1812.
John and Rachel Jenkins moved to Surgoinsville, Hawkins County, Tennessee in 1827 or 1828 where they lived the remainder of their lives. It is believed that both had children from former marriages; however, their children together were:
1. Andrew Jackson Jenkins (1817-1859) md. Eveline Campbell, daughter of Ansel and Jenny (Allen) Campbell.
2. Griffin/Griffith Jenkins (1820-1880's)
3. Nancy C. Jenkins (1823-1892) md. Preston Williams.
