Will Transcript

I John Hickman of the County of Greenbrier and State of Virginia do hereby make my last Will and Testament in manner and form following To Wit.

1st I will all my movable & perishable Estate to my much beloved wife Nancy.

2nd I will to my Daughter Sarah Young the sum of One Dollar.

3rd I will to my daughter Peggy the sum of One dollar and one bed & bedding.

4th I will to my daughter Betsy Sheaves One dollar.

5th I will to my son William the sum of one dollar.

6th I will to my son Lewis the sum of One dollar.

7th I will to my son Thompson the sum of one dollar.

8th I will to my Daughter Abigail the sum of one dollar Bed & Bedding.

9th I will to my Daughter Jane Benson sum of one dollar.

10th I will to my Daughter Ann the sum of one dollar & one Bed & Bedding.

11th I will to my Daughter Polly the sum of one Dollar & one Bed and Bedding.

12th and lastly I do constitute and appoint my sons William & Thompson Hickman Executors of this my last Will & Testament.

Greenbrier County Court April Term 1827

This paper purporting to be the last Will and Testament of John Hickman Dec'd was presented in Court & proved to have been duly Acknowledged by the oath of Wm. Lewis & Lewis Hickman Subscribing Witnesses thereto and the same is ordered to be Recorded and thereupon Thompson Hickman one of the Executors therein named took the oath prescribed by law and entered into Bond and Wm. Lewis & David Thompson his Securities in the sum of $1,200, Conditioned as the Law directs there Probate and Letters Testamentary is granted him in due form of Law reserving the right of the Other Executor therein named.
