Children of John Hazen and Mercy Bradstreet: 1) John, b. 21 Feb 1710/(11).
[Note: footnote suggests there was one son John born in Boxford, and misrecorded when the family moved to Norwich, an assumption of the author based on the unlikely coincidence of having two children exactly one year apart.]
"43. John4 Hazen (John3, Thomas2, Edward1), born at Boxford, Mass., 21 Feb. 1710/(11); married at Lyme, Conn., 10 Mar. 1736/7, Deborah Peck. He received land from his father by a deed dated 25 Jan. 1736/7: 'I John Hazen of Lyme for ye love good will and natural affection I have owe and do bear unto my loveing and dutifull son John Hazen of sd Lyme … give … unto him' two pieces of land containing 25½ acres in the East Parish of Lyme. This land with a dwelling house was conveyed by John Hazen, Jr. to Robert Miller, 3 Jan. 1739/40, and on the same date he bought of Robert Miller another house and 25 acres for £400. This place he sold again, with 7½ acres purchased of 'his honored father' to David Huntley for £500, 14 Sept. 1742. No later Hazen deeds are recorded in Lyme, though irom the record of births of the children, it is evident that the family was there at least twelve years later. He seems to have made a prospecting trip in New Jersey about 1745, but there is no evidence that he had any residence outside of Connecticut."
