Obituary from the Kokomo Daily. JOHN HAWKINS. Dead at His Ervin Township Home - Expired Sunday. John H. [F.] Hawkins, for many years one of the best known business men of this city, died at the home of his brother, Luman Hawkins, in the west end of Ervin Township Sunday afternoon at 3:00 o'clock, of applexy, after a lingering illness of nearly a year, aged seventy years. In accordance with his expressed will no funeral services will be held. His remains will be buried without ceremony in Pete's Run cemetery today at 4:00 o'clock. For many years the deceased was the manager of the David Friday clothing store. He was never married. By shrewd business management he had amassed a snug little compentency, which amounts to between ten and fifteen thousand dollars. He was unassuming in manner, and was of a generous, gentle, kind-hearted disposition, and the news of his death will be received with feelings of universal regret. He was the son of the late Benford [Bluford] Hawkins and is survived by two brothers, Frank Hawkins of Arkansas and Luman Hawkins, at whose home he died. Both brothers were at his bedside when his eyes closed on the scenes of earth and his spirit took flight. Of the deceased it can be truthfully said that he was a good man, and what more can be said of any man?
