John Harris/Herris is listed in Boston's Ward-Seven tax assessment of 1681, where his father, the merchant Thomas Herris, and apparent relative Richard Harris from Braintree also appear. John and his father soon moved to Connecticut where John married at Middletown in May 1684, perhaps not as first wife, the widow Sarah (Nettleton) Miller, born about 1642. John and his father apparently returned to Boston where they appear in the North End (Ward Two) assessment of 1688, then moved to Philadelphia by 1690, where John was still living in 1715.
