    At the beginning of the Revolutionary War Johns father joined the Virginia State Navy. John his son Took the place of his father as a Cabin Boy-Seaman during the war and served 3 years on the "Manley Galley".
    He moved with his parents to Culpeper Virginia he married Rachel Compton in 1790 and then moved to Harrison co Virginia in 1815 and to Warren co Ohio in 1825 and in 1837 to Jay county Indiana.
    At death he had 11 children,50 grand children and 12 gr grand children.
