14. JOHN HANBURY: (13 Henry) John, the son of #13 Henry is believed to be the ancestor of the Hanburys of Hanbury. The descent of Henry has been traced as accurately as seems possible. It is certain that he had a son who was alive in 1343. It is also certain that a John Hanbury was alive during the reign of Henry V (1367-1413). The only fact that can be stated is that Cooke's Visitation of 1569 declares John Hanbury to be descended from Henry de Hanbury. However, this record may have been referring to a John Hanbury, the son of #14 John. Nevertheless, the above #14 John is considered the scion of the House of Hanbury of Hanbury. He apparently had three sons. One of the sons, Richard, founded the house of the Hanburys of Elmly Lovett. References
