  • May 1815 - marries Mary Moore in Lexington, GA
  • drew land in the land lottery in Greene County, but, in 1830 he traded that property for land in Troup County, GA where they established their home
  • served as a state representative from Troup County to the Georgia State Legislature in 1839
  • moved to the Cass County, Texas area in 1850
  • all children born in Georgia prior to the move to Texas
  • received 40 acres of land for his service in the War of 1812.
  • part of the 40 acres was donated for the Holly Springs Cemetery
  • supposedly buried at Hickory Hill Cemetery in Cass County, TX - so why does Find A Grave place him in Holly Springs Cemetery?

    John Cunningham Hall was born April 12, 1794 in Georgia. In about 1815 he married Mary Moore who was born in Greene County, Georgia. they had twelve children: Minerva, James M., Robert T., Isaac C., Mary Jane, John D., William H., Benjamin Franklin, George Hilliard, Margaret Ann, Alexander Jefferson and Elihu Wesley. All of the children were born in Georgia. The family lived in Greene and Troup Counties in Georgia before moving to Cass County, Texas. According to some letters, the family came to Texas in November 1851, John Cunningham Hall was a farmer and settled north of Hughes Springs in the Holly Spring Community.

    On October 28, 1856 John Cunningham married Mrs. Elizabeth Bradley.
