Came to America in General Wolfe's army to fight the colonists early in the Rev. War. Toward the end of the war he deserted in the area of upper South Carolina because he thought himself mistreated by his commanders. He wandered into NC, served a few months in the NC militia actually fighting against the English, then settled down in Rutherford County. Info from Robert David Gasperson. This matches info from pension files.

John and Elizabeth apparently drifter apart after the turn of the century. At the time of Elizabeth's death, John was living in East Tennessee where he filed for his Rev. War pension and the pension was eventually paid to a widow (probably remarried again). Info from Robert David Gasperson
