Daviess County - Old Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery: There is a very
interesting article on the history of this cemetery and the relocation of it
in 1996. In the West Central Kentucky Family Research Association
publication Kentucky Family Records, Vol. 22, page 46: ---This "hollowed
ground" was the final resting place for over 250 pioneers, who would be
related to a significant part of Daviess County current population. Among
those interred here were : ---- "John Fuqua (1786-1853), whose nephew, Kit
Carson was a legendary figure of the old West.
John's wife, Charlotte Robinson, was a sister to Rebecca Robinson, mother of Christopher Houston "Kit" Carson.
John and Charlotte were married 29 May 1808 in Shelby County, Kentucky
There were 185 unmarked graves in this cemetery when they moved it, hers could have been one of those. What we have been able to do in undisturbed cemeteries is use rods to determine the type of unmarked grave, adult or child, next to another stone. So there is no way of knowing if it's possible that his wife was buried beside him.
If anyone knows if this type of survey was performed on the cemetery before they moved it please let me know.
Johns parents are Capt. Joseph Fuqua, a Revolutionary War Solider, and Catherine Palmer
Records show the parents of Charlotte and Rebecca as James Robinson and Agnes Boone. Nobody that I know of has been able to find which Boone Family Agnes might be from but there are several stories on "Kit" that mention he is a cousin of Daniel Boone. It's also possible because of the area she was born that she might actually be a descendant of what is called the Isle of Wight Boone line instead.
