(Research):I have found a John Edwards in the 1880 US Census for West Greenwich, Kent County, Rhode Island (p. 192A). He is listed with his wife - Lucinda; his son - Sullivan (and Sullivan's wife - Dorcas); and his granddaughter - Nolar(?). This entry also indicates that his mother was born in Rhode Island. If true, this is the first indication that I have seen of this. The age is correct (71), as is the area, but this is a very common name, so it's difficult to know. 2004.11.21,slk
