    John Dummer m. (1) 1704 Sarah Pierce, d/o Col. Pierce of Newbury, m. (2) Mrs. Mercy Gardner of Haverhill, m. (3) daughter of Hon. Samuel Penhallow, m. (4) Mrs. Elizabeth Dummer. He had two children (Katharine 1731, and John 1733) by last wife.
    [The last two wives seem to both refer to the same person. I believe the assertion of four wives is a misreading of the list attached to his death record in the Newbury VRs. In the second sentence, "last w." clearly refers to the last wife established in the previous sentence, else it would later have to say none by the 1st three had children.]
