JOHN FRANCIS DUKE, Planter, of Prospect Point, St. Mary's County, Maryland ; b. 25th July, 1835 ; d. 18th December, 1915 ; during Civil War, when the "Maryland Line" was organized, he became a member of Company B, 2d Maryland Infantry, Confederate States of America ; served throughout the war until his capture and imprisonment at Point Lookout ; was a Teacher for nearly half of a century ; served as School Commissioner for fourteen years ; m. 30th December, 1865, Margaret Ann NUTHALL, b. 4th January, 1844 ; d. 5th March, 1898, dau. of William and Matilda (ABELL) NUTHALL of St. Mary's County, Maryland, she dau. of Thomas ABELL of St. Mary's County. ...
