"John L. Davis, Chicago, died at the Presbyterian Hospital yesterday, aged 74. The funeral will take place Sunday afternoon at 3 o'clock in the Central Church of Christ, Thirty-seventh at North Conway, N. H. Mr. Davis came to Chicago in the early '50s, engaging in the real estate business. In 1860, he removed to Springfield, Ill., where he was President of the Sangamon County Trust company. Ten years ago he returned to Chicago and lived at Edinburg Hotel. He left a widow."
