Va., where he operated a grist & saw mill on North Fork of t~e Holston River; also was a carpenter and made caskets... He died Smyth Co. Va., 31 Aug. 1910 buried in cemetery of Zion Church near Nebo, Smyth co. Va.. 'He m. 2na_ to Pherfia Branscom who survived him. He enlisted 1864 in lst va. rn:ft. and served until captured a t Five Fork s just previous to Lee's sur:ender; held 3 months at Hart Island and released July l865.
